1. Sledding at Andie’s Prairie

Fun for the whole family! Grab your toboggans and inner tubes and jam up to Andie’s Prairie to sled down the most perfectly sloped hill.

Located 26 miles east of Weston, Oregon along State Highway 204, this designated sledding location is shaped to provide numerous sledding runs, so there’s something for those who want to go fast and those who want to go for a more leisurely ride.

Make it a true winter experience by packing a couple thermoses of hot cocoa or hot toddies for the adults.

2. Ski Bluewood

A local favorite, Bluewood is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year! They boast 24 runs scattered over the mountain, each unique and for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels.

Whether you are a beginner and need to start on the bunny track, or king of the mountain, Bluewood is a great place to shred some powder.

Not into winter sports? No problem. Chill in the lodge with something warm to drink and your favorite book while the kiddos play!

3. Wine Tasting

Skip the summer crowds and venture out to the valley’s wineries on the weekends. Make sure to schedule a tasting appointment or check for each location’s winter hours. Bundle up and take a friend out to taste and visit.

It’s a slower time which makes for a great opportunity to learn about your favorite wines and take your time tasting through some amazing flights!

4. Cross Country Skiing

You don’t have to give up your regular walking routine just because of winter weather. A fun alternative to alpine skiing, anyone can do cross country skiing! A way of traversing through the snow, you can cross country ski almost anywhere.

Our suggestion is Bennington Lake where you can test your ability to go down some short slopes or stick to the regular flat trail. Take your pups out too!

Boot and ski rentals are available at the Whitman College Rental Shop for $16/day, or at Dusty’s for $30/day.

5. Join a Gym

We know- it’s the most stereotypical time of the year to join a gym, but also a great time to get out of the house and kick the winter blues to the curb!

The locally owned and operated Destination Crossfit gym has grown to include multiple classes a day with modified workouts for all ability levels, specialized classes for those looking to level up in their workouts or learn more about mobility and recovery for injuries, and an on staff sports chiropractor.

Come make new friends, create community, and burn off those holiday calories too.
